Certified true copies and notarial certification

Many procedures require a certified true copy instead of the original: the copy is compared with the original and certified by a notary or competent official. A signature on a declaration or contract may also need to be certified.

Notarial practice is regulated by each canton. We work with notaries across Switzerland and coordinate the appointment, the certification and, where needed, the subsequent apostille or legalisation.

Our notary-related services

  • Certified true copies of passports, diplomas and certificates
  • Certification of signatures on declarations and contracts
  • Notarial certification of translations
  • Preparation of documents in the required language
  • Apostille or legalisation of notarised documents

Copies for authorities abroad

If a copy will be used abroad, it usually needs an apostille or legalisation after notarisation. We check this when preparing your quote so that nothing has to be done twice.

In several languages

We can prepare the wording of declarations in two languages so that both the Swiss notary and the foreign authority can read them.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be present at the notary?

For certified copies, the original documents usually suffice. For signature certification, the signatory generally has to appear in person with a valid ID; we arrange the appointment.

Can you certify a copy of a foreign document?

Yes, a notary can certify that a copy matches the original you present, whatever the country of issue.
